April Fools
Mood: 📃 working
Happy April Fools’ Day! There is no prank for today, as I am too old at heart1 to come up with this kind of thing. I also think that the sort of prank I can think of that would affect this blog might be sort of malicious and annoying towards the viewer. And of course, dear reader, I could not bear to do something like that to you!
Due to various reasons, I’ve started falling behind on all my various obligations, both “real” and “un-real”. To try and stay a bit accountable, I thought it could be useful to write down a “to-do list” of the things I want to achieve soon in the near future:
Blog stuff
Update the RSS generator to have truncated descriptions for posts in cases where I have a lot of inline HTML (for example, my two questionnaires have a lot of HTML in their layout and this looks weird in my generated RSS feed)I have done this already; it turns out that the RSS feed is generated from the{{ .Summary }}variable, which I can manipulate from within the blog post, and now it is fixed for the very long questionnaires!- Update the Pikmin page to include new decor Pikmin and flowers from the latest updates, which I have been sourcing from Pikipedia
- An addendum to this is to actually automate the resizing of the images when I put them in my blog directory
- Add more people’s buttons to the links greenhouse
- And create a placeholder button for people who I couldn’t find a button for
- Maybe upload all my school notes from the last semester to a subsection of this blog
- I would probably want to edit them for content and transcribe the slides instead of uploading 1 million screenshots, so this will be a “after the semester is over” sort of task.
- However, they are all already in Markdown format, so this is going to be pretty easy.
- Keep writing blog posts at least every month
School stuff
- Statistical theory homework (This is the most important!)
- Chinese landscape homework (This is the second most important!)
- Longitudinal analysis homework
- Statistical theory homework again
- Theory of survival analysis homework
- Machine learning homework
And so on, it repeats forever… I should also work on the final project for the Chinese landscapes course as well. I think it would be fun to try and recreate an old painting. I also should start getting prepared for exams. Ugh, exams…
Work stuff
- Finish curating the [REDACTED] dataset
- Create analytic dataset for [REDACTED]
- Perform analysis for [REDACTED]
…Wait, I can’t really post anything detailed about this here. Just imagine that there is a lot of this kind of thing that I need to do. Lots and lots of cleaning data.
Hobby stuff
- Finish knitting the sweater
- Finish drawing my Vtuber model
- Finish drawing the grid of my favorite characters and post it here 🙂
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. But I see a lot of dullness in my future. Alas!
In the world of fun, it could be fun to try to make an incremental game. I’ve been reading the following:
However, if I were to make an incremental browser game, I would also need to figure out a core “concept” for that game, and I don’t have one just yet. Also, working out balance so that the game would be “fun” for people will be difficult!
I’ve recently been reading the manga “The Saga of Tanya the Evil” which I thought was an interesting meditation on the evils of modern warfare, as well as being generally funny and enjoyable. I actually read a lot of manga, and I’ve seen some people create whole review sections on their Neocities sites for the media they read/watch/etc. but I’m the type of person who has fun with everything and has the bad habit of rating everything 5 stars 🌟. So I think that it wouldn’t be that useful to anyone else if I tried to put on the hat of a reviewer. I also watched the Pixar movie “Hoppers” recently which was a very cute and charming spin on the “Avatar” (James Cameron, not last airbender) concept with beavers. I’ve been a big fan of the “bóbr kurwa” memes that have been spreading from the Polish internet recently so it was great to see a bóbr movie. 🦫
In other news, I discovered that I have been featured on the Kagi Small Web discovery service. How interesting! I wonder who added my blog to their list. It seems like this blog belongs to the “Web and Internet” category. I wonder what determines it! After poking around in their Github for a little while I could not figure it out, but it must be somewhere in there. If someone finds out, please let me know. The other places that link to this site are a mystery to me. I always figured that the only people who read this blog are the people I send the link to, haha!

If you can believe it, I am 29 years old… It’s the last year that I can call myself a 20-something. ↩︎
