Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to everyone who celebrates! Today I am going to be dressed up as a pumpkin. I tried something very out-of-character for me and put on makeup as part of the costume. Yes, it’s silly, but I really have no talent for cosmetics, so even drawing an eyeliner wing and gluing on false eyelashes was a daunting task that took up a great deal of focus and mental fortitude. Because I now live in New England, I’m going to travel to Salem for Halloween evening! So when I get back, I might try to upload a picture of my costume. It’s really a very simple costume, so don’t get your hopes up.

My husband left for Massachussetts this Wednesday, so I’ve been fending on my own. I’m really happy to get to join him soon (my train leaves in 2 hours). Did you know? Halloween is also our wedding anniversary! We originally planned to have a big wedding with everyone’s family and friends, but the planning was too stressful and we decided to at least do the certificate part early so we wouldn’t have to worry about the marriage license. But then after getting courthouse-married, the urge to throw a big party disappeared… Because we were already married…

I would say this is a good thing because we managed to save a lot of money and hassle, but some people are still sad that they didn’t get to attend a big fancy wedding. Maybe one anniversary we’ll throw a big fancy Halloween party instead?

As for site updates, I’ve put up a link to a reading list of papers. I’m going to add some summaries to them once the weekend is over, in case you don’t have access to the paper (but if you don’t have access, please email me and I can send you a copy! I have student library access to almost every journal, so it’s really very easy for me to send a pdf). But for now I will be enjoying the festivities.
