Hooray, I did it

Mood: 🧶 knitful

After many delays, including my hospital stay, I finally finished knitting a hat for my husband! It took twice as long as a normal hat because it’s the famous double-layered Musselburgh hat which I knit with fingering weight yarn.

Here’s the Ravelry listing and a photo of the finished hat! Maybe it’s hard to tell from the photo, but it’s super warm, to the point that it’s actually not cold enough out for my husband to wear it. I used the same yarn to make a sweater and a pair of socks for him too, so now we’re at the end of that yarn.

An orange, grey, and black hat

I’m starting a new project already: a cabled sweater that I certainly won’t finish in time for Christmas. I was thinking it could be cute to make a Christmasy theme for my website when December comes around, but I don’t know what to do. Maybe replace the broccoli confetti with Christmas trees? Add a snow effect? It would be fun to prepare it ahead of time and write a script to automatically apply the CSS when it’s December. I also went ahead and made a background image for my site so that the text section stands out a little more. Little by little my website becomes less minimalist! But if you are on mobile the screen is too small to see my background. Sorry!

It would be nice to learn Blender for real and model/animate a low poly canola flower blowing in the breeze. My little brother (15) is super gifted with Blender but he mostly does complicated fluid simulations. I wonder if I could ask him for help when I come home for the holidays.

OK and I promise I really will update the reading list with more summaries. I’ve just been very busy recently…
